7th Annual Midwifery Seminar

5 March 2020 8:30 am - 4:30 pm IMC Subang Jaya
Important Note: We regret to inform that this seminar has been postponed, and will advise on the next date soon.

Course Description

Healthcare increasingly recognises and focusses on ‘safe practice’ and ‘patient safety’. Clinical risk management strategies in maternity care play an important role to optimise patient safety and also reduce one’s liability and litigation.

Mother’s life is precious. Statistics on causes of maternal death in Malaysia, 2018 due to postpartum haemorrhage is 11.5 % and other obstetrical trauma and haemorrhage is 5.4 %. It is our goal to achieve a zero maternal mortality from obstetric haemorrhage in our country.

Nutritional rich maternal diet is associated with healthy foetal development and reduces incidences of congenital anomalies. Midwives should complement their technical skills with non-technical skills to heighten quality midwifery practices which contribute to positive childbirth experience and safe patient outcomes.

Course Objective

  • To provide knowledge on clinical risk management
  • To create awareness on the importance of safe practice and patient safety
  • To highlight the importance of maternal nutrition and non-technical skills in provision of safe maternity care
