
Course Description
This practical workshop will provide participants with valuable skills and knowledge required to insert peripheral intravenous cannula and care for the cannulation site. This is a 1-day course with lectures, skills demonstrations and breakaway sessions for skills practice and assessment. At the end of the workshop, participants will have their cannulation competency individually assessed on a cannulation ‘model’ arm. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate detailing their successful completion of the course.
Course Objective
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Explain the best practices in the insertion and management of peripheral intravenous cannula in adults.
- Demonstrate the best practices in the insertion and management of peripheral intravenous cannula in adults.
Pre-Requisite
- Holders of Diploma/Degree in Nursing from recognised institution. Participants are expected to have knowledge of universal precautions as well as Anatomy and Physiology of Peripheral Vascular System.
